And the weather is fine, take the A171 until you see a turning on the right sign posted Egton. This junction is located roughly five miles after Scaling Dam Reservoir and the BP Fuel Station and is a slightly sharp, right-hand turn. Once you have taken this turn, remain on Egton Lane and travel through Egton Village (passing the Witching Post Inn, The Wheatsheaf Inn, Egton Primary School, and St. Hilda’s Church and follow the road signs for Goathland. Once you pass The Postgate Inn, Egton Railway Station, St. Hedda’s Church and over Egton Bridge you will see a signpost for Goathland pointing round left-hand bend and up a steep hill. Continue driving on this road, following the road round to the left and up the hill. At the top of the hill there is a small row of cottages and a junction leading to the left, signposted for Goathland. Follow this road until you reach Goathland (approximately 5 miles) where you will approach a small roundabout near St. Mary’s Church. Take the first exit, and remain on the main road through Goathland village. You will pass a little row of independent shops on your right before finally approaching the Goathland Hotel. You will find The Inn on the Moor situated directly opposite, on the left-hand side of the road, just after ‘Scripps Garage.’
